Ouran Live Drama

I had heard a while back that they were making a live drama version of Ouran High School Host Club, but since then I hadn't heard much about it.  Well, I finally watched episode one last night thanks to Isabel.  I have yet to watch anymore of it, but here's my basic reaction to episode one:

I thought the episode was really faithful to the manga and anime (although Isabel tells me that changes later), which I enjoyed.  Still, it comes across as a little over the top as live action.  I love it, but I think that's just because I was already a fan.  If you'd never seen Ouran before, it would probably just come across as weird to you.  (Granted the anime and manga are weird too, but that's how they're supposed to be.)  Also, I think Kyoya is my favorite host in the live drama (Tamaki is in the manga and anime), and I really like the actress who plays Haruhi.

Haley finally finished reading Mockingjay, so we got to talk about it at lunch!  I love talking about books with people when they've just finished reading them.  It's so fun to see other people's reactions to things and hear what they think.

I know I'm forgetting something that I wanted to mention in this post, but I guess that'll just have to stay a mystery.  Maybe I'll remember and put it in a later post.  I can't get my brain to cooperate at the moment.

Giveaway: Ouran High School Host Club Volume 5

It's my first giveaway!  I've wanted to do this for a while.  This is just going to be for the U.S. since it's my first giveaway.  I hope to have an international one in the future.

The giveaway is for Ouran High School Host Club Volume 5 by Bisco Hatori.  It's a manga.  I know volume 5 is a random one to giveaway, but my dad bought it for me without realizing that I already had it.  It hasn't been read or anything and pretty much looks brand new.  If you're at all interested in reading Ouran, I'd encourage you to enter the giveaway.  You'd probably understand everything just fine even if you haven't read volumes 1 through 4.  Here's a little about the book and series:

Ouran High School Host Club, Vol. 5
Synopsis from Goodreads:
In this sharp-witted romantic comedy about the clash of the classes (of all kinds), a poor girl at a rich kids' school ends up working at the school's toniest club-and gets mistaken for a boy!

In this high anticipated title, a kind of cross between HANA-KIMI and BOYS OVER FLOWERS, Haruhi is a scholarship student at an exclusive private school: Ouran High School, where it turns out the bespectacled, short-haired Haruhi is the only student from a lower-middle class family in attendance!

Then, to make matters worse, one day she breaks an $80,000 vase that belongs to one of the campus clubs-a mysterious outfit called the "Host Club," consisting of six superrich (and gorgeous) guys. Haruhi can't afford to pay back the cost of the vase, of course, so she's forced to work for the Host Club! And it's there that she discovers just how rich all the boys are and how different the rich are from you and me...And meanwhile, the eccentric but good-hearted rich boys are shocked to find out how life is on the other side...
That's Goodreads' synopsis for Volume 5, but it really only describes the series as a whole, so I typed up the synopsis on the back of the book. (This is only the second paragraph on the back.  The first is just a summary of the synopsis from Goodreads.)  The synopsis for Volume 5:
Haruhi's top ranking falls and she is in jeopardy of losing her scholarship at Ouran.  Each member of the Host Club scrambles to become her tutor, but Haruhi picks a female student, Ayame, to help her.  Haruhi's time is now spent with Ayame, who can't stand Tamaki.  Can Tamaki charm his way into Ayame's good graces so the Host Club can spend time with their favorite member?
You must be a follower of this blog to enter.

The giveaway ends August 31st.  I'll chose a winner on September 1st using random.org.

If you win, I'll email you to get your mailing address.  If you don't email back within 48 hours, I'll choose another winner.

Remember:  I'm new at this, so there may be some bumbs in the road.  Hopefully, everything will go smoothly.

Books I Want to Read

I know I did a post kind of like this before, but I decided to do another one today.  I have a huge list of books to read, and no where near enough time to read them all.  I don't even want to know how many books are currently sitting on my shelves, in my closet, or where ever I could find room for them.  That I have yet to read.  I'm going to share a few of the books that I am most dying to read.

Cassandra Clare's books.  I have City of Bones sitting on my desk waiting to be read.  Hopefully I'll get around to it soon, but I'm trying to get through some of the books that I've had longer first.

Ouran High School Host Club by Bisco Hatori.  I've read volumes one through five, and I have volumes six, eight, and nine sitting on my desk.  The rest will be bought sometime in the future.  They're quick reads, so it's hard to convince myself to wait instead of just picking them up now and reading them.

The Darwin Award books.  My AP biology teacher has a couple of these in her classroom, and we've read some of the stories in class.  They were so hilarious that I had to go out and buy one of the books so that I could read it all the way through.  I have yet to get around to it.

The Twilight Saga:  The Official Illustrated Guide.  I'm not even sure if I got the title exactly right, but it's close enough for you guys to know what I'm talking about.  I feel like a bad Twilight fan because I haven't even bought it yet.

I could probably think of more, but I think those are the ones I want to read the most right now.

I'm thinking about doing this same type of post only about DVDs too because I have a bunch of those that I've bought or want to rent that I haven't gotten to watch yet.  I haven't even bought the Deathly Hallows Part 1 DVD yet.  (So, in addition to being a bad Twilight fan, I'm also being a bad Harry Potter fan.  I need to fix that soon.)

What about you guys?  What books do you most want to read right not.

In My Mailbox - March 6th, 2011

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren to show what books you got during the week.

I've tried this about four times already, and Blogger keeps screwing up the post.  I got seven books this week, and I had a long post with summaries and everyting.  Blogger kept moving text around and deleting huge chunks of the post.  I don't have anymore time to mess with it, so I'm just going to quickly list the books.

Love Finds You in Paradise Pennsylvania by Loree Lough (Given to me by my aunt.)

Nerve by Taylor Clark (I recieved an ARC from the publisher.)

My dad picked the rest of the books up at the Border's closing sale:

Ouran High School Host Club Volumes 5, 6, and 9 by Bisco Hatori  (I actually already have volume 5.  I may do a giveaway.  Would anyone be interested?)

The Darwin Awards Next Evolution by Wendy Northcutt

Ten Ways to Be Adored When Landing a Duke by Sarah Maclean
