Books Becoming Movies

There are quite a few movies that I want to see that are based on books.  I usually want to read the book first before seeing the movie though.  There are quite a few movies out based on books that I have yet to either read the book or see the movie.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower movie is coming out soon.  I've been planning to read that book for quite a long time and have yet to get around to it.  Emma Watson and Mae Whitman (the voice of Katara in Avatar: The Last Airbender) are both in it though, so I have to get around to reading that book so I can go see the movie.

The first Mortal Instruments movie is being filmed right now.  I own the first book but haven't read it yet.  There's actually a bit of controversy with this one involving a fanfiction Cassandra Clare wrote before and people accusing her of plagiarism.  I'm not entirely sure I should read it, but I'm probably going to cave and at least read the first one to see how I feel about it.

I own the books Beastly and Red Riding Hood as well but have yet to read either book or see their movies. I really need to get around to reading both of those since those movies are already on DVD.

There are plans to make a bunch of books I have on my to-read list into movies even though production hasn't even started on those yet.  (Matched, which I also own but haven't read, is one of those.)

I feel as if there are a lot more books being made into movies these days.  I don't know if that's just because I'm paying more attention or because it's actually happening more.  I'm not complaining though.  I love seeing books become movies.  I just wish I was better at getting around to reading the books and seeing the movies quicker.
