Six days!

Nothing has been happening here, hence why I haven't blogged in six days. This is probably going to be short, and I'm probably going to forget things I wanted to blog about because of how long it's been.

I finished The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen about five days ago. It was so awesome! I recommend everyone (at least teen girls) read it! It's about a girl named Macy whose father died a year and a half ago, but she's still really depressed about it. She's been trying to be perfect since then. She makes some new friends (including a boy named Wes) one summer and learns "the truth about forever" hence the title of the book. I'm sure you can find better summaries online.

Today wasn't all that great of a day. It wasn't bad really, just normal, but it is now probably the best day I've had in a while. You want to know why? J.K. Rowling got a Twitter account! Her username is jk_rowling if you want to follower her.

I think that's it. I know I'm going to remeber stuff as soon as I post this, but if I forgot anything to important, I'll just write another blog.

Homecoming

It's been three days since my last post, so I figure it's about time I posted again. Nothing has really happened though, so this will probably be pretty short.

I gave my speech in speech class on Thursday and was only in the time limit by 12 seconds. I got pretty lucky! I found out I got an A on it Friday!

Friday was also Homecoming which means we had a pep rally during school. Key Club was sponsoring a contest where one of the teachers had to kiss a donkey. My best friend and I (We're members of Key Club by the way.) were working the table were they came up to put money in the jar for which teacher they want to win. Mr. Collins, the guidance counselor, came up with a huge bag of coins, and asked me to open the top of Mrs. Damm's (She's the teacher in charge of Key Club) jar, so he could pour the money in.

Another teacher (I don't know his name) came over and asked Mr. Collins what he was doing. Mr. Collin's replied, "She started this! She's going to have to kiss the donkey!" Each teacher was with partners and this teacher happened to be Mrs. Damm's partner, so he didn't put any money in. He was laughing though.

Then, my chemistry teacher, Mrs. Sanders, walked by and Mr. Collins called over to her and told her to come over. She did, and he told her she should put money in. Mrs. Sanders sayed she didn't have much money, but she would put a few coins in. She didn't put them in Mrs. Damm's though. I can't even remember whose she put it in.

Later on, the vice principal, Mrs. Gladish, came over with a big bag of coins and poured them in too. It was hilarious how they were all ganging up on Mrs. Damm. A little while after Mrs. Gladish left, Mrs. Damm walked by and Summer called for her to come over to the table. She did, and Summer said, "Look what they did."

Mrs. Damm was like, "Did they put my jar in front?" Which they had put her's in front of everyone else.

"Yeah," Summer said, "But lift it up. It's really heavy." Mrs. Damm did and started laughing. She looked inside and saw that there was even a ten dollar bill in there. She walked over to where a few teachers were standing and they started giving each other a hard time. Needless to say, Mrs. Damm had to kiss a donkey that afternoon.

I actually went to the game that night. It was the first football game I'd been to since 5th or 6th grade, and only my second I've ever been too. We won! We were playing against the third best team in the state too! We're undefeated so far! I don't really care about sports at all, but I still think that's pretty awesome!

That ended up being longer than I thought it would.

New Blog Title

The poll to choose the title of this blog has closed, and Been There, Read That won! Yay!

Nothing has really happened this past few days. Sadly, the highlight of the past two days for me was Twilight (Well, Catherine Hardwick really, but still), Dan Radcliffe, and Emma Watson all making it in the Guinness Book of World Records! There was also confirmation on the rides that are going to be in the Harry Potter theme park in Universal Studios! It sounds so fun, and I can not wait to go!

I have to give a persuasive speech tomorrow in speech class! I'm nervous, but no were near as nervous as I was at the beginning of speech class which is the point of the class I guess. The speech is why everyone should pay attention to the news and know what's going on in the world. It really annoys me how many kids there are at school who don't have any clue what's going on or anything about other cultures. A few weeks ago, a boy in my class got in huge trouble for making a racist comment in class. I just really don't like ignorant people. Anyway, I always have trouble getting in the time limit for my speeches. There always to short when I practice, but some how it's okay when I give my actual speech. This time I was doing the same thing, but managed to get a good time the last time I practiced! Let's hope I can do that practicing today, and again tomorrow when I give my actual speech!

As you can probably tell by the new title of this blog, I love to read. I'm reading The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen right now, and I think I'll post a review when I'm done. I'm not sure when that will be though. If it was the summer it would only take me a couple days, but I think I've already been reading it for almost a month and I'm only on chapter six! I blame homework. Maybe I'll start posting reviews of every book I read. Who knows.

The Time Traveler's Wife, VMAs, and PSATs

Yesterday, I went to see The Time Traveler's Wife with my best friend, Summer, my sister, Regina, and my grandma. I've been looking forward to this movie for a very long time. I wasn't sure if it would be good or not. About half the people I know who say it said it was good and about half said it was bad, but I really enjoyed it. I'm not going to post any spoilers, but I thought it was a good movie. It was pretty funny because every time he time traveled he showed up naked, and they showed his butt quite a few times. One time they showed the girls butt too. Summer whispered to me, "What is this movie rated?" and then a little while later, "I've seen more butts in this movie than I have in my lifetime!" It was pretty funny. The ending was so sad though! I won't say what happened, but I was crying and Summer was absolutely bawling. I actually started laughing at one point because I was trying to watch the movie, but could hear her crying. She wasn't very happy about that.

I watched the VMAs last night. I loved the New Moon trailer even more on the TV, and Taylor Lautner looked awesome! I can't believe what Kanye West did! He was so mean! I think Taylor Swift deserved that award. I can't believe anyone would do that!

I signed up to take the PSATs today in October. Normally, it cost 13 dollars, but apparently Indiana wants as many sophomores as possible to take it this year so the states paying for sophomores to take it. Any juniors that want to take it have to pay though. I find that a little weird. I'm kind of nervous about it even if it is only practice for the actual SATs.

The poll to vote for the name of my blog only has one day left, so if you haven't voted then you need to know! I'm pretty sure (but not positive) that Been There, Read That is winning right now.

Reality TV Will Never be the Same Again: My Experience at Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

I'm sure everyone knows that reality television is basically fake. i knew this but I didn't realize quite how fake until I went with my sister, Regina, and my grandma to Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. We were there for about eight hours. You know the scene near the end of the show where they reveal the house to the family? How long is that scene? Five minutes? Well, it took them about three to four hours to film! The family was only actually there for about an hour or hour and a half!

Regina woke me up at about nine thirty that morning (September 12, 2009) saying my grandma would be there at about ten thirty. We weren't even sure if we would be able to get to the house, but when we pulled into the church (they were taking people to the house on buses) we got on a bus straight away.

When we got there and walked into the area where the crowd was. We stood toward the back of the crowd for a while until my sister started pulling me toward the fence a little bit away from the house. I asked her where she was going, but she wouldn't answer. I followed her anyway. When we got to the edge of the fence, you could see a tent. There were a few other people standing over there and they said that Ty Pennington had walked in there earlier. We stood over there for a while, but he never came out. We did see a cute goat that was chained up to a tree by the tent. It was apparently the family's goat.

My grandma came over to us and told us she was going to go get some food. we decided to go with her, and we started to walk toward the tent where they were serving food. When we got there, it was blocked off. Then all of a sudden, people started screaming. We turned around to see Ty walking down the hill. Everyone started taking pictures like crazy. Then, the bus pulled up and Clint Black got off. It was about that time that my camera suddenly went dead. So, the only pictures I got were some of the house and Ty. Ty greeted Clint and they started walking towards where we were standing. They waved at us, and then started walking back towards the bus. They proceeded to film the same thing about four more times. After they finally finished filming that and Ty and Clint had walked back up the hill away from the crowd, my grandma went to get food and Regina and I walked back down to the crowd.

We were able to get in the front row, but we were on the side of the house and couldn't see where the bus was going to be. My grandma came back with food for us, and we each ate a hot dog while watching them finish up work on the house. My grandma eventually said that she was going to go towards the back of the crowd where there was shade, but Regina and I decided to stay by the fence. We just stood there for a while and talked while watching people working on the house.

I don't know how long we were standing there until one of the volunteers walked by caring one of the cutest puppies I have ever seen! She stopped in front of us and sat the puppy down. She told it to go to the bathroom, but the puppy started walking toward us instead, She tried to get it to go for a little bit, but eventually picked it up because it wouldn't go. She started walking away when a lady standing next to us asked what the puppy's name was. She stopped and walked over to us while telling the lady that the puppy had had many names and they hadn't picked on yet. The lady asked if it was a gift for the family. The lady said no, it was already the family's. There other dogs had apparently had puppies and this was one of them. (They gave the family three small dog houses and a bog one. We think the big one was for their goat.) She even let us pet the puppy! If they show the puppy on the show (which I bet they will) you'll see just how cute he is!

After a while, my grandma called my cell phone and told us that she was further back in the crowd, but she could actually see the front and where the bus was going to be. My sister and I decided to go up where my grandma was at. We turned around and started walking. We'd walked back a little bit when all the sudden a camera was in front where we'd been standing and was filming the crowd. We stopped and started waving at the camera and cheering. I'm pretty sure we were on camera even if we weren't in the front anymore!

When they finished filming, we walked back up to my grandma. I have no clue how long we waited until they finally parked the bus in front of the house. The then pulled a limo up with a "fake family" in it and practiced what to do when the family actually got here. Then, they filmed us cheering for a limo with no one in it and even a person pretending to be a limo. After that we had to chant move that bus so many times I lost count. They told us that if we looked at the camera we wouldn't be on TV, but I glanced at it a few times because I couldn't help it! After at least an hour of doing that, they started filming the limo even though no one was in it.

Then, we had to wait a while while the limo went to go pick up the family. When they came back with the family, we started cheering again. They pulled the limo up, but no one got out of the car. Eventually, a camera guy got out of the car from one side, but they wouldn't let the family out. It was actually kind of funny because Ty was standing by the limo and was making faces through the window at the family. After a while, they finally let the family out. Then, they had to film Ty talking to them a couple times. Eventually, they had us chanting move that bus again. We had to to it about five times again, so it really was a surprise when they actually moved the bus because I think a lot of us had lost hope that they would even move it. You could see the family crying and hugging each other.

Ty started talking to them again and a lot of people started leaving. We were able to get to the front again. This time we were even at the front of the house. It took at least half an hour for the family to get in the house because they filmed them walking to the door at least five times. After they finally walked in, Ty ran into the back yard. Two of the cast, Michael and Didiayer walked by. They were only about five or six feet away from us, and people started yelling their names. Michael turned around and sayed they would be back later, but they had to go do interviews. By the way, Michael apparently broke his wrist at the local skating rink, so when you watch the show and see him in a cast, that's why. They may even include it on the show. Xzibit, the host of Pimp My Ride, and Clint Black also walked by. We wanted to stay, but we were so tired that we decided to go home. We had to stand in line for about an hour to get on a bus to take us back to my grandma's car.

If Extreme Makeover: Home Edition ever comes to your area, I would recomend going, but I would take a chair and something to do. We could barely stand at the end of the day, and there were long periods where there was absolutely nothing to do. I think it was worth it in the end though. Even if I felt pretty horrible at the end of the day.

This experince completely changed my view of reality TV especially Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. I still think it's an awesome show and it's great what they do, but whenever I watch it and see the scene were the family comes home, I'm going to be thinking how many times they actually filmed everything.

I don't know when the episode is going to air yet, but I'll let you know when I find out!

New Moon Trailer

I just watched the new New Moon trailer! It was so awesome! I'm still kind of in shock from the awesomeness! All I can say is I want it to be November so badly, and Taylor is so amazing as Jacob!

Nothing happened today at all really. I am very excited because I brought no textbooks home today! This is the first time that's happened this year! I'm so happy!

Has anyone seen the trailers for Disney's new movie The Princess and the Frog? If not, you should really watch them. The movie looks like a classic Disney movie. I may be 16, but I really want to go see it. Cars 2 and Toy Story 3 also sound like they're going to be good. I don't even really like the first two Toy Story movies. I loved the first Cars though. Mater is so awesome!

I also really want to see Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. I loved that book when I was little. Even though they changed the plot a lot. Come to think of it, the book didn't have that much of a plot. It was probably necessary to change it if you wanted to make a movie.

I can't believe I haven't mentioned Time Traveler's Wife. I've heard it's bad, but I want to see it so badly! I also want to read the book. I've been asking to go see it for weeks, but my parents always have some excuse. I'm getting there this weekend some how! I also want to see Julie & Julia, but not quite as badly.

I'm also very excited that Pirate of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides has been announced as being realized in summer 2011! I love all of the Pirates movies!

The Vampire Diaries

I'm beginning writing this during commercials of Vampire Diaries.

It's weird. I barely watch TV. All of my favorite TV shows have ended, but now I think I'll be watching Glee and Vampire Diaries.

I do have a few problems with Vampire Diaries though. Anyone who knows me, knows I'm a Twilight fan, but I also have a lot of problems with Twilight. I'm not a vampire fan. I'm actually a werewolf fan (One reason why I'm Team Jacob.), and I find Bella and Edward really annoying. I don't like Stephenie Meyer's writing, but I do enjoy the story even if I think Bella is too helpless. And I don't care what anyone says, trying to kill yourself when you think someone you love has died and not being creeped out when you find out someone has been sneaking in your room is not normal. Obviously, I don't read the books because of Bella and Edward. I do enjoy that part of the books, but I find the werewolves more interesting.

Anyway, I didn't mean to go on that rant about Twilight. Back to Vampire Diaries. I know that the Vampire Diaries series of books was published before Twilight, but having read Twilight before watching this, I can't help thinking about the similarities. I do like that the main character doesn't seem to be as helpless as Bella.

This show is like Twilight in another way. I have no clue why, even though I can find so many things I hate about it, I still really want to watch the series. It's like vampire series brainwash you or something. Why can't there be a werewolf series! The only one I can think of is Blood and Chocolate. (Which I want to read, but I've heard it can be kind of graphic. I don't know.) If you know of any good werewolf books (particularly series) please let me know!

Also, I'd like to quickly remind you to vote on the poll over on the side. Last I checked there was a tie between Weasley's Worries and Been There, Read That. There are 5 days left to vote!

Glee

I am watching Glee for the very first time while typing this post. I'd heard everyone talk about how good the pilot was since they aired it earlier in the year. I was interested in it, but never bothered to watch it. I decided to finally watch tonight's episode, and I'm so glad I did!

It is such an awesome show! I love musicals so I love that aspect of the show. It is also hilarious. There are so many funny lines that I don't even know where to begin. I also love that the main focus of the show are kids that aren't that popular. In most shows, (Gossip Girl and 90210 for example) all of the main characters are popular, but not in Glee. The main characters in Glee are mainly nerds and I love that. They also sing awesome songs.

***Spoilers in next paragraph.***
I find it funny that Terri isn't really pregnant. I find it really odd that she thinks she's pregnant, but has really just been gaining weight from eating. I really want Will and Emma together even though Will is married to Terri. Terri kind of annoys me and Will and Emma are so cute together. And now that there's no baby, they don't have to worry about that.

Moving on from Glee. Not much at all happened today. I watched part Obama's speech (was in the shower and watching Glee after about the first half an hour.), but don't really have anything to say about it.

Oh, I tried those New Moon chocolates that came out. There are three types. Bella's have creme, Edward's caramel, and Jacob's peanut butter. If you buy them, just as a warning, the caramel/Edward and peanut butter/Jacob ones are really good, but I thought the creme/Bella ones were disgusting.

I think that's it!

New Poll

I know you're probably getting tired of me today. Three posts in a day? Really? I promise it won't normally be this often. I've just had a lot to say today.

Title of blog: I added a poll on the title of this blog on the side. You can still make suggestions. It doesn't have to be one of those. Please vote for a title.

Questions: My Aunt Kate is the only one who's asked questions. Here they are:

If you could have ANY superpower, what would it be and why?
This is easy. Invisibility no doubt about it. I've always said it would be awesome to be invisible. I don't know why it seems so cool to me. I think most people would say strength or flying, but strength seems boring to me and flying seems terrifying.

If you had UNLIMITED resources and an entire week, what would you do? Who would you want to spend the week with? Where would you go?
Hmm, now this one is harder. I'm not entirely sure. I would go to Britain and California each for a little bit definitely. I'd probably split the week between them. I would bring as many people as I could with me. Whoever I know who could come! While in Britain, it would be awesome to meet J.K. Rowling and a bunch of Harry Potter actors. The Queen and other royalty would be pretty cool too! In California, there would be a bunch of stars I would want to meet!

Keep asking questions everyone!

One Life to Live: I won't mention One Life to Live on here very much, but I'm typing this blog while watching today's episode. I just want to say that this episode is really sad. With how rich that family is I can't believe they don't have better security though. Those people came in way to easily!

J.K. Rowling comic book: Found out there is going to be a comic book about J.K. Rowling's life today. It sounds awesome! I can't wait to buy both it and the Stephenie Meyer one!

I promise that this will be the last post today!

Haley (hmweasley)

Harry Potter Makes My Day

Today was a pretty good day I guess. Nothing really eventful. Funnily enough (although definitely not surprising if you know me), the most exciting thing today would have to be that Harry Potter came up twice today. If you didn't believe when I said I was a nerd last post, I'm sure you do now. The most exciting part of my day was Harry Potter being mentioned twice.

The first HP mention: It came up the first time on Channel One during first block (AP World History). If you don't know what Channel One is, it's a news program geared towards teens that they show each morning at school. Their website is channelone.com if you're interested. Anyway, since it was many kid's first day back, they were showing a review of all the news over the summer. Any Harry Potter fan and even most people who could care less about it know that the sixth movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, came out on July 15 this summer. They actually showed clips from the premiere and some people yelling "We love Harry Potter!" (These are automatically really cool people by the way.) It was very awesome even if it was not at all important news compared to other things that happened over the summer.

The second HP mention: The second time was during Obama's speech. (Which, funnily enough, I watched during speech class.) You may have watched it, especially if you're school-aged. He mentioned J.K. Rowling's first Harry Potter book was rejected 12 times before someone (Bloomsbury by the way) decided to publish it. They were small mentions really, but they still made me happy. I knew there was going to be a mention in Obama's speech though, thanks to Leaky. Every Harry Potter fan should check leakynews.com for the latest Harry Potter news. (Mugglenet.com and some other sites are awesome as well.)

Obama's speech: Speaking of Obama's speech, I don't really like Obama, but that's another blog post. I did like the speech though. Everything Obama said about staying in school and getting an education is true. Just thought I'd mention that briefly.

Emma's update on her site: Emma Watson updated her official site (emmawatson.com) saying that she's started college and is enjoying it so far. Even though I know she'll never read this, I just wanted to say that I am very happy for her, and I hope she continues having a great time at school.

HBP DVD: WB released a list of the deleted scenes that would be on the Half-Blood Prince DVD today. There are a few that sound really interesting to me including Harry and Hermione discussing the Maurader's Map and Harry and Hermione discuss Ron at Astronomy Tower. I'm also very excited about the 11 minute 38 second sneak peek there's going to be of the theme park on the DVD. I can't wait until the DVD comes out!

The questions: In the last post, I asked for questions and said I would do a post answering all of them. The only questions I've gotten so far are from my Aunt Kate. I'm going to do that post later and hopefully I can get some more questions. Please ask some questions! And keep sending in suggestions for a title of the blog too.

My fanfic: I don't think anyone who reads this also reads my Avatar fanfic (If you want to, it can be found here: www.fanfiction.net/~hmweasley), but just in case I'll say this here. I know it's been a while since I've updated. I've been busy with school, and writing a chapter takes longer than writing a blog post. Especially now that I'm trying to make the chapters longer. (If you don't read my story, my past chapters have been super short which I have had readers, especially one in particular, tell me they are not happy about it. They said it nicely of course.) Hopefully, I'll have another chapter up soon!

I think that's all for now. This isn't as good as my last update, but I'm happy that I did update and not just forget about the blog. Hopefully, I can keep that up!

First Post

Were to begin...

I'm sitting here on Labor Day September 7, 2009 (which just happens to also be my sister's birthday) writing this blog.

I had a blog a year or two ago, but never kept up with it. Let's hope I do better this time! I've been wanting to do this for a while, but never got around to it.

What I've done today: Absolutely nothing! Well, I obviously had to do something. I am typing this blog. That's something. I guess I've just done nothing interesting. I did join Cullens Online today. I wrote a blog on there which led to this blog being created. If you're a Twilight fan, I definitely recommend checking them out at cullensonline.ning.com. I also did AP World History homework. You get my point. Nothing interesting. I won't bore you with that anymore.

Blog title: Okay, I'm sure you read the title of the blog and thought "how unoriginal is that." I completely agree. I think I need a title that gives a little glimplse into who I am and what I write about before you even read the blog. Problem is, I can't think of anything. I suck at coming up with titles. If you've read my fanfiction, you know this. My current story is called Avatar: The Next Generation. How much more unoriginal can you get? I need help! Please leave suggestions. They can be funny or serious or stupid or smart as long as they fit me. Of course, now you're asking "Well, who are you?" Which leads me too...

Who am I: Along with being horrible at titles, I'm also horrible and describing myself and just people in general. (I'm setting myself up as a horible writer aren't I.) I'm going to do the best I can here. Here are some things that describe me: book worm, nerd, Harry Potter fan, Twilight fan, weird, Avatar: The Last Airbender fan, writer, daydream all the time, Little House fan, Ouran High School host club fan, One Life to Live fan, fan of so many more things, Catholic, Sophomore in high school, 16 years old, favorite animal: snowy owl, favorite food: tacos, Favorite color: purple. Those are just a few things I am. I left out things I'm not really proud of. You'll just have to figure those out on your own. And yes, believe it or not, I am very proud to be a nerd and weird. It makes life funner.

I thought, since I suck at describing myself, we could make it fun. If you want, send me questions. I'll do a whole blog post on whatever you ask me. Sound good? I'm not expecting a lot, but please, if you read this blog, leave at least one. Even if you know me in real life. It can be a serious question or some random, pointless question. Random, pointless questions are always fun.

I know I left out a lot of things, but it's getting late and I have school tomorrow. Oh joy. Please note the sarcasm there. I may be a nerd, but waking up early and learning about geometry and chemistry is not fun for me either. In fact, it has to be something pretty exciting to ever make up for waking up early. I say all this, but I actually think I wake up pretty early for a teenager. Wow. Lots of rambling. That's something you're going to learn about me quick. I ramble. When talking and people can stop me that's no problem. When writing a blog were I can keep going and going and going... Well, who knows how long I will go...

Well, like I said, I have to go. My mom and sister came in and are distracting me. Hope you find me at least some what interesting and check back soon for updates!
