RIP Zach (Chappy) and Arsyle

Today hasn't exactly been a happy day.  I'll get to that later though.

My first few classes were completely normal.  We had a sub in world history and all we had to do was work on a worksheet.  Then, in art I worked on my drawing.

We also had a sub in personal finance.  We worked on our projects were we're planning our dream vacation.

On my way to my third block class (Spanish) I saw that a bunch of people were crying.  I had no clue what was going on, but there were a ton of people crying.  When I got to Spanish, I found out that a bunch of people had gone home.  A boy named Zach had been in a wreck a few days ago.  I'd already known that.  I don't know the whole story, but apparently both of his lungs were damaged.  He had to have surgery back on Monday, and they told his parents that he'd be in critical condition for 72 hours.  Obviously, he didn't make it.

After that it was incredibly quiet for the rest of school.  That's the second time someone has died this year.  I'm not sure if I mentioned it on here, but a freshman named Alexis was murdered towards the beginning of the year.  I think it was even worse this time.  I don't know if it was because everyone found out during school or because he was probably one of the most popular kids in school, but during lunch you could have heard a pin drop.  If you looked around the cafeteria, everyone was just sitting there quietly.  Barely anyone even ate.

Mrs. Deweese didn't have us do any work today because so many people went home or were really upset.  We spent the beginning of class listening to the people who were closest to him in the class tell all of these funny stories about things he did.  I didn't really know him, but it sounds like he was a very entertaining person.  After that, we watched  The Princess and the Frog.  Everyone in class insisted we watch it because they insisted it would cheer them up.  I think it worked because everyone was laughing at all of the jokes.

In English, some people were still a little sad, but it was better.  We had a sub in there too.  We worked on grammer and vocab, and then we watched some of the Julius Caesar movie.

When I got home, we discovered that my brother's hermit crab Arsyle had died during the day.  We got him over a year and a half ago, and he was the last of our hermit crabs.  It's a little sad I guess, but luckily, my brother's not too upset over it.

I know this post may be a little upsetting.  I'll try to make tomorrow's happier.

RIP Zach (Chappy) and Arsyle

Something Wicked This Way Comes

This is my 105th blog post!  Yay!  I'm kind of disappointed that I missed number 100, but oh well.

We started a new chapter in world history on Monday.  It's the last chapter of the book!  It talks about things that are still going on in the world today.  So far, we've talked about China, the conflict between Israel and Palestine, South Africa, and Rwanda.

We have to draw a teacher in art class, and I'm drawing Mrs. Drew (my personal finance teacher).  I really hope she never sees the drawing.  My grade would definitely go way down...

We've started learning about budgeting in personal finance.  We're also doing a project were we have to plan our dream vacation with a budget of $5,000 for two people.  I'm planning a trip to Los Angeles.  It took me forever to find the prices for plane tickets because so many sites are blocked at our school.

In Spanish, we started a new unit on Mexico.  Before every unit, they list famous people from whatever country we're learning about.  One of the people listed for Mexico was Alfonso Cuaron, and no one had any clue who he is.  My teacher was really happy when I told her he was the director of the third Harry Potter movie and then asked me if I was a Harry Potter fan.

We talked about Shakespeare in English on Monday.  The teacher was telling us about popular phrases from Shakespeare that we still use today.  One of them was something wicked this way comes.  Some girl in my class freaked out (yes, literally freaked out) because she insisted that it was from Harry Potter and not Shakespeare.  It was a little strange.  We started reading Julius Caesar today.  We just got through scene one.

I watched episode 56 of Naruto the other day.  It was a good episode.

The chapter I'm on in The Book Thief is called "The Swapping of Nightmares."  I'm still kind of bored, but it has gotten a little better.  Some senior (who's usually pretty quiet) freaked out when she saw I was reading it and kept going on about how it was the best book ever.  I hope it gets better.  I'm not halfway through yet, so you never know.

You know, I just realized that there were a decent number of Harry Potter references in this post.  Well, that certainly not something to complain about.

Uglies

I haven't done much the past two days.  I had school yesterday (obviously), and I worked today.

I finished reading Uglies by Scott Westerfeld the other day.  I absolutely loved it!  It was amazing!  Everyone should read it!  I'm upset that I don't have the next book yet.  My sister just came and got the book from me, and she's going to start reading it tomorrow!

I watched episode 55 of Naruto earlier today.  It was a nice episode.  I loved the scene with Lee.

I started reading The Book Theif by Markus Zusak today.  I heard such great things about this book, but I don't really like it yet.  It's gotten a little bit more interesting.  Maybe I just need to read a little bit more of it.

I'm pretty sure that I mentioned HM Grayson from fanfiction.net on here earlier.  She wrote one of my absolute favorite fanfictions (called She Hates Me).  Well, she posted a new story today called Surprise Party.  It's a Seth/Nessie fic.  I don't ship Seth/Nessie, but the fanfic is really cute.  You can read her stuff at www.fanfiction.net/~HMGrayson

That's basically all I have to say (or write I guess).  It was incredibly slow at work today so nothing happened.  I did spill cleaner down my pants though.  That wasn't fun.

Lots and Lots of Subs

I had to work yesterday.  It felt like the first time I'd had to work in a while.  I think it had been about five days since I'd worked, but I'm not sure.

We had a sub in world history yesterday, so we just worked on a worksheet.  Today we took notes on the Soviet Union breaking up and terrorism and 9/11.

We also had a sub in personal finance yesterday.  We didn't do much except take two tests.  Today we just worked on a project that I finished in about half an hour.  I've done a lot of reading in that class the past few days.

We also had a sub in Spanish yesterday (it's as if the teachers all decided to take the same day off...).  We finished watching Rudy.  It was a really good movie and I don't even like football.  Today we reviewed for our test.  Hopefully, I do well on this one.

I had to get up and read Spanish in front of my whole English class yesterday.  If you read this blog, you probably know how bad I am at Spanish.  I managed to read it, but the teacher told me to practice before class.  We've been reading a lot of poetry lately and Shakespeare Bats Cleanup.  We've also been doing vocab like usual.

I'm on part III of Uglies by Scott Westerfeld now.  The chapter's called "In Case of Damage."  I think I'm getting obsessed with this series.  That may or may not be a good thing.  I also found out that there's apparently supposed to be a movie out in 2011.  That sounds awesome!

This week is actually going by quickly.  Something that doesn't usually happen for me.  It may be all of the subs I've had.  I hope the next two days go by quickly too!

Converting to Buddhism?

I didn't do that much work at school today which is probably a good thing because I felt like I was about to pass out the whole day.  I should probably try to get more sleep...

We just worked on work sheets in world history.  We only have two chapters left in the book!  The chapter we're on talks about stuff from about the 70's until now.  It covers the Soviet Union breaking up, 9/11, and more.

In art, we took notes on some Italian artist and worked on our pastel drawings.

We had a sub in personal finance.  We watched part of a Dave Ramsey video and worked on our folders.  Since I already had my folder done, I spent most of the class reading and talking to a guy in my class named Colton about Harry Potter.  He's been trying to get me to talk for a while because I'm so quiet.

While I was in line for lunch, some girl in front of me was freaking out because the boy she likes is apparently converting to Buddhism.  She was going on about how they'd have nothing in common anymore and her mom won't let him in the house when she finds out.  You would have thought he was joining the Occult or something.  I was standing behind her trying very hard not to laugh.  I don't know who this guy is, or why he's apparently converting to Buddhism.  It's kind of interesting.  I wonder if he'll actually do it.

We also had a sub in Spanish.  We watched the movie Rudy.  While watching it, we have to take notes about positive attitude since that's our character trait at school for the month (our school does a character education thing).  I guess she's trying to make us learn something while she gone (she won't be there tomorrow either), and there's no sub who can teach Spanish.

We didn't do much in English either.  We went to the lab to work on our Snowbound projects which I was already done with so I worked on our vocab homework.  After that, we read from Shakspeare Bats Cleanup, and that was about it.

I've started reading Uglies by Scott Westerfield.  I really like it so far.  The chapters aren't numbered, so I'm not sure which chapter I'm on, but it's called "Rapids."

I work tomorrow.  Hopefully, it will go by quickly.

Confirmation Retreat

I have seen yet another person reading manga at school.  I'm really enjoying this.  One girl was reading manga and the teacher asked why her book was backwards, so the girl had to explain what manga was.

I made a video yesterday (www.youtube.com/hmweasley).  I talk about different stuff like books, Naruto, powder puff, and stuff.

Powder puff on Friday was fun.  It was nice getting out of class, but it was extremely hot outside.  Then, it was freezing cold today.  You've got to love spring.

I spent most of my day today at a Confirmation retreat.  I get Confirmed in two weeks!

I'm on chapter 13 of This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen.  I love it!  It's one of my favorite books by her (even if that's half of her books at least).

Looking back at my blog, I realized that I haven't mentioned Naruto in two weeks.  I've watched two episodes since then and finished season two.  Wow, two episodes in two weeks.  That's kind of sad.  Anyway, they were awesome episodes.  I liked the last episode but not as much as the previous episodes.  I really want to see what happens though.

I Want to Sleep

Not a whole lot has happened the past few days.  I'm walking around about to fall asleep all of the time because I haven't been able to sleep in since waking up at five AM on Thursday (and I probably won't even be able to this weekend).  I'll probably end up falling asleep out of nowhere at the worst possible moment.  Right now, I want nothing more then to not have to wake up early tomorrow.

On Friday, we had had a sub in world history.  On Monday we find out that he apparently lost papers we had turned in (the teacher didn't even believe that we'd turned them in at first).  The teacher still can't find them, and he doesn't know what he's going to do about it.

We took two tests in Finances today.  I think I did really well on both of them.

We had a quiz in Spanish II that I think I did well on.  We also started learning more about the preterite.

We've been going to the lab to work on our Snowbound projects the past few days.  We're supposed to have the book finished by Thursday.  Speaking of English class, last week (I think) we got the essays we wrote back.  I want to post mine here, but I keep forgetting to bring it home.  It's stuck in my literature book in my locker.

My grandma and two of my great aunts who are visiting from Florida came over visit the other day.  It was fun spending time with them.

Today at school, I saw three different people reading manga!  I'm amazed!  I've never seen anyone at school reading it, and then out of no where I see three on the same day.  I think it's awesome.  Two of them were girls too which is even better.  Of course, it's good to see people reading any type of book.

I finished Keeping the Moon by Sarah Dessen.  I loved it!  I think it's one of my favorite of hers (along with about half of her other books).  The ending was so cute!

Lack of Sleep

I know it's been forever since I've written a blog, and unfortunately it's going to be short.  I haven't gotten much sleep these past few days and can't really focus on writing this.

Overall, I had fun in Nashville.  There was some drama at one point, but it was thankfully fixed and everything was better.  It was very tiring though especially since I had to get up at five in the morning.

We just got home from my grandma's house.  Some of our family from Georgia is visiting.  Some family from Florida is coming up too. They're supposed to be here today, but they got stuck in traffic and weren't there  when we left.  We'll have to see them some other day before they leave.

I went to see The Last Song movie with my sister and her friend yesterday.  I loved it!  The whole cast was amazing!  I thought the boy who did Jonah was amazing!  You should definitely go see it!

I finished Paper Towns by John Green earlier today.  I thought it was an amazing book.  I definitely recomend it.  It's different from anything I've ever read before (so are his other books), but I really enjoyed it.

I started reading Keeping the Moon by Sarah Dessen earlier today.  It's good so far but kind of slow.

Baa

We took notes about the Cold War in world history today, and I spent all of art trying to find a "master" painting that I could draw.  The problem is, I suck at drawing and can't possible draw anything that a famous painter has painted.

In personal finance, we talked more about credit.  In Spanish, we reviewed for the test we have tomorrow.  I feel like I know everything pretty well, but I say that a lot and then always to horrible on the tests.  We'll see how that goes.

We had a pop quiz in English today, and then we read part of a novel we're reading.  At one point, we were going over vocab, and something pretty funny happened.  Mrs. Meyer (the teacher) asked, "Hunter, can you tell me the answers to 4, 5, and 6 please."  Hunter tells her that the answers are B, A, A.  Mrs. Meyer asks, "Otherwise known as...?"  She meant for him to say the word that the letter was in front off, but a girl in class imitated a sheep and said "Baa!" really loud.  The whole entire class and Mrs. Meyer started laughing really hard.  It was hilarious!

I read some more of Paper Towns today.  I really love it so far. *SPOILERS* I love all the clues that Margo left behind.

I won't post a blog tomorrow.  I have to work, and I want to go as bed as soon as I get home because I have to e at school at six in the morning on Thursday.  I'm going on the character trip that my school has every year.  I  get to go because I have perfect attendance and have "shown good character."  We're going to Nashville!  I'm excited!  We get out of school the entire day.  We leave at six in the morning, and we'll get back anywhere from 6:30 to 7:00 that evening.  I'll try to post a blog when I get home from that.

First Day Back After Spring Break

On Easter Sunday,  I got a bunch of candy, clothes, the wolfpack poster that I actually picked out, and the Twilight in Forks DVD.

I'm so excited that I finally got the Twilight in Forks DVD!  I watched it yesterday and loved it.  If you're a Twilight fan, and are interested in learning more about Forks and La Push, then I definitely recommend you get it.

My grandma came over for lunch.  Other then that, pretty much all I did was go to work.

Today was the first day back at school after spring break.  It went pretty well.  I felt really weird waking up this morning and going to school.  It felt like the break had lasted a lot longer than a week, but after my first class, it felt normal again.

In world history, we just worked on some worksheets.  In art, we took notes on some artist whose name I can't remember.

In personal resource management, we learned about credit cards, and how to use one wisely (or not at all).

In Spanish, we reviewed some, and then learned some more about pronouns.

In English, we read some of both of the novels we're reading, went over our DLP's (daily language practices), and went over our new vocab words.  That's the only class I got homework in.

I'm on chapter one of part two of Paper Towns by John Green.  I really, really like it so far.

That's pretty much all that happened today.  Only a little more than seven weeks until school's out for the summer!

I Love Easter

I haven't really done much these past two day.

I went to church both yesterday and today for Good Friday and the Easter Vigil.  I love the  Holy Week and Easter masses so much.  I may go again for Easter tomorrow.

I had to work today, but basically nothing happened there.  It went by surprisingly fast though.  I have to work tomorrow too.

I finished Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen.  I loved it!  I highly recomend it.  I'm now reading If I Loved You, I Would Tell You This by Robin Black.  It's a collection of short stories.  I like it so far, but it's not great.

I watched episode 50 of Naruto earlier today.  It was a good episode.  *SPOILERS*  I feel so bad that Rock Lee lost.  I can't wait to watch the next episode.

I hope you all have a good Easter tomorrow!  I can't wait to finally be able to chew gum again!

Reunion

I didn't do much yesterday except read fanfiction and then go to work.

There was one little funny moment at work.  For those who don't know, before I went to high school, I used to go to this really small Catholic school.  There were only twelve of us in the class when we graduated 8th grade.  Anyway, so one of the girls from my class that school named Alyssa came in with her boyfriend to tan.  While she was tanning, a boy that was also in our class there named David came in, and he had to wait for there to be an open bed.  So, as Alyssa was leaving, she says, "Bye Haley.  Bye David.  It's like a [insert school name here] reunion!"  The way she said it was hilarious.  Alyssa can be a very amusing person (and if she ever happens to read this, I mean that in a good way).

Two annoying boys from school came in right before closing, and really annoyed me though.  I twittered a bunch about it last night, but I don't really want to go into it here.  I'll just start ranting about how much they both annoy me, and no one wants to read that.

I didn't really do much today either.  We just got back from Holy Thursday mass, and that's about all I did today.

I watched episode 49 of Naruto.  It was a really good episode.  I can't wait to see if Gaara or Lee wins.

I'm on chapter twelve of Along for the Ride.  I stayed up until 3 AM reading it.  I love it!  Of course, Sarah Dessen is one of my favorite writers.  I'm not a huge fan of her first two books, but other than that I've loved every one that I've read.

That's pretty much all I did yesterday and today.

Oh, I wanted to mention that I'm super excited for the novella that Stephenie Meyer has coming out.  I kind of would have prefered a different character's point of view, but I'm definitely reading it anyway.  They're apparently also working on The Host movie.  I'm really excited about that because The Host is my favorite thing Stephenie has written (yes, it beats Twilight).
