Arguing Over Facebook

I did pretty much nothing on Saturday.  We did watch Leap Year which I've been wanting to see.  I loved it!  It's now one of my most favorite movies ever.

Oh yeah, and I took my driving test that morning, almost wrecked the car, failed, and we're done talking about that.

Today, we went over to my grandma's.  They were watching Avatar when we got there, so I finally got to see the end of it.  I really, really liked it.

I played badminton, tennis, and volleyball with my cousin Danielle.  It was so hot outside!  It definitely feels like summer now.

Once we went back inside, my cousin Joel and I kind of started fighting over Facebook.  He started doing things to bug me, and then he got off the computer and I decided to get on.  He apparently forgot to log off of his account.  His dad and our uncle told me to post something funny as him, and I did.  Then, he found out and kicked me off his account.  I got on my account and we started to argue and make fun of each other over Facebook.  It was actually fun (although he did some very embarassing things).  It was actually the first time I've been on Facebook in forever.

We also started watching Mama Mia.  It was still on when we left.  I've seen it before.  It's a good movie, but really cheesy.  My favorite part is that Julie Walters (Mrs. Weasley in Harry Potter) is in it.

That's pretty much all I did this weekend.

Two Boring Days

I haven't really done a whole lot the past two days.  I worked yesterday, and it was incredibly slow.  It also stormed all day long which I hate.

I have to take my driving test tomorrow at 8:30 in the morning which means I have to wake up at about seven to get ready and get there in time.  It'll be like school again just a few days into summer break.  Knowing me though, I'll tell myself I need to go to bed early and then not go to bed early.  If everything goes well, I should have my liscense tomorrow.

I just finished watching episode 63 of Naruto.  I absolutely loved the episode!  I really want to know where Sasuke is.

I've been reading First Families:  The Impact of the White House on Their Lives by Bonnie Angelo.  I'm on chapter four right now, and it's really interesting.

I also posted a new Avatar: The Next Generation one-shot (fanfiction.net/~hmweasley).  I tried uploading videos to Youtube earlier, but it wouldn't let me.  That's the secong time that's happened.  I wish I knew what's wrong.

School's Out!

School is officially out for the summer!  Yay!  I'm so excited!

We didn't do anything at school today.  Less than probably half the school was even there.

We just sat there and talked in world history and art.  We watched TV in personal finance and English.  We played Scrabble for the first part of Spanish and then just talked.

During lunch, some of my friends who have a different lunch were walking around anyway because none of the teachers really cared if we were in class or not, so I walked around with them.

From one to three we watched The Blind Side.  This was about the fourth time I've seen it.  It's a good movie, but it gets boring after a while.  I'm kind of upset that I may never be able to finish Avatar though.  I think there were only about five or ten minutes left where we were at too.

After school, my mom picked me up, so I could retake my written driving test.  I passed this time!  I'm scheduled to take the driving test on Saturday at 8:30.  I don't want to wake up that early, but at least I'll get it over with.  Hopefully, I pass because my permit expires on the 31st.  If I don't get my license by then, I have to take a written test to get a learner's permit and then start all over. 

I finished The Secret Lives of the U.S. Presidents.  It was really interesting, and I learned a lot of things I never knew about the presidents.

Just Two More Days!

Today was the first day of finals.  The finals in world history and art were both really easy, and I'm not worried at all about my grade on those.  My final in Spanish was a little harder (but not much), and I'm the slightest bit worried about how well I did on it.

All we did in personal finance was watch different videos about money, budgeting, insurance, etc.

After out final in Spanish, we watched more of Avatar.  I really like it, but I still can't help thinking of Pochohantas while I'm watching it.

In English, we had to take the Core 40 pilot test that I mentioned on Friday, and then we worked on research papers.  I'm already done with my research paper, so I spent the time finishing reading Julius Caesar since we won't be able to in class.

Tomorrow I have finals in personal finance and English.  Hopefully, those go well.  I can't believe there are only two days of school left!

I watched episode 62 of Naruto just a little while ago.  It was an awesome episode.  I loved that Naruto won!

Uncooperative Computer

I haven't really done all that much today.  I was woken up incredibly early because I had to go take my written driving test.  I failed because I missed to many of the signs.  I wasn't surprised, but I am so tired and wish I hadn't had to get up so early just for that.

I watched episode 61 of Naruto last night.  It was probably my favorite episode in a while!  It was amazing!  Hinata's my favorite character, so I like episodes that she's in.  The whole episode was amazing though.

That's pretty much all I've done today.  I tried to upload some more videos to Youtube, but my computer didn't want to cooperate.

Pocahontas in Space

All of the kids who are taking English 11 Honors next year (including me) had to go to a meeting about the summer reading program this morning.  We have to read three books over the summer, and then, when we get back to school, we'll take tests over all three of them.

In world history, we watched a video with We Didn't Start the Fire and kind of went over the historical stuff in the song.  We also reviewed for our final that's going to be on Monday.

In art, we reviewed for our final (which is also on Monday), and I worked on my scratch art.

In personal finance, we watched two DVDs.  One was about being eco-friendly and the other was about paying for transportation.  We also did a word search for extra credit.

In Spanish we started watching Avatar which only about five people in the class (including me) had never seen before.  It was pretty good, but not as great as everyone was making it out to be.  I'm not sure if we'll even be able to finish it, and I definitely get why everyone was comparing it to Pocahontas.  I kept thinking of Pocahantas the whole entire time.  It's like Pocahontas in space.  Still, it's good though.

We read Act IV of Julius Caesar in English.  Also, the state of Indiana chooses certain schools to do this test to try to improve the standardized test.  It doesn't affect the students, but helps them figure out what the standardized test (Core 40) needs.  Our school got choosen to do that this year.  Our school has two English 10 classes this semester.  One is taking a multiple choice test (my best friend's class) and one's writing an essay (my class).  Our school didn't choose this or anything, some how the state just chose out class.  My class is thrilled, I promise you.  My teacher's kind of upset because we were already rushing to get done by the end of the year, and now we're going to have to finish Julius Caesar on our own before the test (which is our final).

It was funny though because there was a frog outside the window during English today that kept croaking whenever the teacher was talking.  It was pretty hilarious.

Lots to Look Forward to (If Only Summer Would Hurry)

We finished watching Hotel Rwanda in world history today.  That movie was amazing!  I think that everyone should watch that movie (if they're older at least).  I loved it.

We didn't do much in either art or personal finance.  In art, I workd on my scratch drawing, and in personal finance, we watched a video about insurance.

In Spanish, we watched part of the Blind Side.  This is about the third time I've seen the movie.  It's good though, so I don't really care.

In English, we talked about how to do citations, talked about Julius Caesar, and worked on our research papers.  I was actually able to get my research paper done today.  I think I'm the only one in the class who's done.  They're not due until Monday.

I know there was something else I wanted to mention, but I can't think of it.  Maybe I'll remember and then mention it tomorrow.

I've been reading The Secret Lives of the U.S. Presidents by Cormac O'Brien recently.  It's pretty interesting, and I've learned somethings that I didn't know about the presidents.

American History Expert

This weekend was pretty uneventful.  All I did was practice driving, go to church, and work.

My learner's permit expires on May 31st.  My parents want me to get my liscense, so they've been making me drive.  Before this weekend I hadn't driven since August I think.  I absolutely hate driving.

We started watching Hotel Rwanda in world history today.  We're finished with the text book, so now we're doing this thing on genocides.  Hotel Rwanda's a great movie so far.  It's horrible to imagine that all of these things actually happened (and are still happening in Darfur).

In art, I began working on my scratch art, and we had a sub in personal finance and just worked on homework the whole class.

We took a vocab quiz in Spanish.  It was probably the hardest vocab quiz we've taken this year.  We also learned how to conjugate some more irregular verbs in the preterite.

In English, we talked about Act II of Julius Caesar and worked on our research papers.  We turned in out note cards, and I started writing my rough draft.  We have a lot we need to get done in English and very little time to do it.

Looking back at my blog, it doesn't look like I've mentioned Naruto since April 27th!  Maybe I missed it or something.  I'm on episode 60 (which means I haven't blogged about four episodes).  I love the episodes.  I can't wait to see the rest of the fight between Naruto and Neji.

I finished reading The Great American Citizenship Quiz by Solomon M. Skolnick the other day.  It was really cool.  It has all the questions and answers to every question on the citizenship quiz and also talks about them.  I'm happy to note that I knew almost all of them.  I didn't know the names of the senators or representatives of my state though...  The one I have was published in 2005, so it's a little out of date.  A new edition was published in 2009.

Right now I'm reading First Dogs by Roy Rowan and Brooke Janis.  It's about all of the dogs that have been owned by presidents.  It's pretty interesting so far.

I'm going to be reading a lot of books about American history because I'm finally getting around to reading all of those books I bought back when I went to Washington, D.C. last summer.  By the time I get through all of these books, I should be in expert on American history.  That's probably a good thing since I'm taking that class next year.

Speaking of summer, I realized this is going to be the first summer break that I've had this blog.  Hopefully, I keep up with this blog over the summer.  I usually do next to nothing over the summer, so chances are I won't have much to talk about.

WHOO Carnival

The AP world history test was a lot better than I expected.  It was still hard, but I though it was going to be much harder.  I really want to know how well I did on it.

My English teacher asked me today in class if I would join the Spell Bowl team for next year.  I agreed for some reason (I hate doing stuff like that in front of people), and she gave me a huge list of words that I have to memorize over the summer.  That'll be fun...

It's funny because I've never considered myself that great of a speller.  I mean I write and read a lot, so I guess I am pretty good.  I was in the spelling bee every year except fifth grade, and the only reason I wasn't in fifth grade was because I got sick.  I was always out fairly early on though because I got so nervous that I'd make really stupid mistakes.  (I've gotten out on the words castle (3rd grade?), fig (4th grade?), and blizzard (as an eighth grader!)).  Hopefully, I can get over that.  I also got awards for being the best speller in my class in 7th and 8th grade, so I guess I'm a lot better speller than I think I am.

Anyway, we had the WHOO carnival at school today from 1:15 to when we went home.  WHOO stands for We Help Our Own.  Basically, different school clubs run boths and students (even the middle-schoolers come over) pay to play games and win stuff.  All of the money made (usually about a thousand dollars) goes to help students at the school who need money.  Any student can go to a teacher for help buying anything (such as clothes) that they can't afford, and the teacher will then tell the office.  Then, the principal, vice principal, a teacher, or someone will go buy the student what they need using the money raised at the carnival.  It's a great thing, but in all honesty, the carnival's pretty boring.  My friends and I just sat there and talked because none of us had brought money.  I kind of wish I had in order to get a drink or snack or something.

I think that's all I really have to write about.  School is still really stressful.  You'd think, that with school being almost over, the teachers would be giving us less homework, but I think they're giving us more because they're trying to get everything done in time.  It's not fun.

Stressful

It's been almost a week since my last post!  Things have gotten crazy in the past week.  I've been working, Summer had her birthday party, and there are tests going on at school.  This will be a quick post.

Summer's birthday party was fun until I got sick and came home in the middle of the night.  I took some videos, but I don't know if any of them will be on Youtube or not.  It all depends.

In Indiana, you have to pass several different Core 40 tests in order to graduate.  This year I have to take English.  We took session one today and we're taking session two tomorrow.  I thought it went really well, but tomorrow's the essay and that's the part I'm worried about.

Thursday is the AP world history exam which I am incredibly nervous about.  We have to write three essays!  Plus, it's hard to remember the whole entire history of the world.  We've been reviewing.  I do pretty well on things we learned recently but not so good on things we learned at the beginning of the year.  At least I don't have to pass it to graduate, but if I do pass it, I'll get college credit.

Overall, it's been incredibly stressful lately.  I am so tired.  I just wish I could do nothing for a little while.  I can't wait until summer break.  I don't think I've ever wanted school to be out this badly.

Feliz Cinco de Mayo

We had a sub in world history today so all we did was work on worksheets, and in art all I did was work on my drawing.

In personal finance, we took two tests and then just worked on homework the rest of the time.  Since I was done with all of my work, I just read.

We celebrated Cinco de Mayo in Spanish today.  I brought in Mexican corn which was corn, zucchini, red bell pepper, jalapenos, green onions, cilantro, and salsa all mixed together.  Not many people ate it.  I don't blame them.  I didn't like it either.  It was extremely spicy.

Since we were eating in the classroom anyway, a few of us didn't even go to lunch.  I spent my lunch in the Spanish classroon writing.  Yep, it's another Avatar: The Next Genration one-shot.  Believe it or not, it's actually about Cinco de Mayo.  How did I manage that?  I made Cinco de Mayo a Fire Nation holiday.  It will all be explained when I get around to uploading the story.  I'm actually really happy with it.  It's longer than the other one-shots I've posted, and I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Oh yeah, and we also finished watching The Princess and the Frog.  It was really cute.

We didn't do much in English except go over vocab, read part of Julius Caesar, and go to the lab to work on our research papers.

There probably won't be a blog tomorrow because I have to work.  In other news, if anyone happens to be a UK fan, my dad and sister are going to meet part of the team tomorrow.  Kind of cool I guess, even if I'm not a fan.

Cocina para Cinco de Mayo

We registered for the AP world history test today.  The actual test is next week.  I'm pretty nervous about it.  Hopefully, I'll pass and be able to get college credit.

I wasn't in art for very long because I went up to the guidance office to work on my schedule for next year.  I had to change a few of my classes.  I couldn't take these two social studies elective classes or anatomy like I wanted.  Now I'm taking accounting (the absolute only thing that would fit in that slot other than wood shop), astronomy, and AP biology.  I actual want to take astronomy.  I was originally going to take AP bio, but then I decided to take anatomy instead.  Apparently, that's changed.  A few of my other classes may have been knocked out when I switched those too, but I'm not sure.  I think we get our schedules next week, so then I'll find out for sure.  I do know that I am going to have more homework next year then I've probably had every other year in school combined.

In personal finance we went to the lab to work on our projects.  Since I'm already done, I worked on homework and read.

We took a vocab quiz in Spanish and also reviewed for our test on Thursday.  We're celebrating Cinco de Mayo tomorrow.  Everyone has to bring in food, and I'm bringing in Mexican corn.  I have to make it later.  Hopefully, everything turns our all right.  Last year, I made some corn thing for Dias de los Muertos and it was horrible.  At school, the teacher was the only person who ate any, and we gave all of the leftovers to my aunt because she was the only one who actually liked it.

We didn't do much in English.  We went over some of our papers that had been graded and the rough drafts of our persuasive letters.  Then, we went to the computer lab to start working on our research papers (everyone's doing it on teen drinking).

I'm really disappointed that I haven't gotten the next chapter of Avatar: The Next Generation up yet.  I had planned to have it up a week ago.  The whole chapter is written, but it still needs to be edited.  Hopefully, I'll get it up today or tomorrow.  I would say I could almost definitely get it up today, but I don't know how long it's going to take to make the food for Spanish.  It will definitely be up soon though.

(To anyone who speaks Spanish, I'm incredibly sorry if the title is horribly wrong.  I can't believe that I'm actually passing Spanish class...)

Confirmation

Saturday was pretty uneventful.  Or at least, I can't think of anything that happened, so I'm asuming nothing interesting did.

Yesterday we went to my cousin Michael's First Communion.  He'll never see this, but congratulations Michael!

Afterwards, we went to pick up my best friend Summer so she could come to Confirmation with my family.

At 5:45 my uncle/godfather/sponsor and I had to go down to the church to practice everything.  Then at 6:30 we went to have a talk with the Bishop before mass.  At 7:00 the Confirmation mass finally started.  My family filmed parts of it.  I'll probably put bits of it up on Youtube.

So, I'm Confirmed now.  Yay!

That's all I really have to say right now.  School was the same as usual.  I have to register for the AP world history exam tomorrow.  I also have to go work on next year's schedule at some point tomorrow because it's the last day I can do it.

The Book Thief

It's late and normally I wouldn't have bothered to write a blog today, but since I haven't written one since Wednesday, I figured I should.

I don't really have much to talk about.  I've worked the past two days.

I can't believe my Confirmation is tomorrow!  I'm kind of nervous...  There probably won't be a blog tomorrow because after Confirmation my best friend Summer is spending the night. (Yes, on a school night.  It's a long story.)  I'll definitely have a blog about Confirmation though.  Hopefully, it goes well.  My cousin Michael's First Communion is tomorrow too.  It looks like I'll be at church a lot tomorrow (two different churches though).

I finished The Book Thief by Markus Zusak today.  Remember how I kept saying how boring it was?  Well, I understand what's so awesome about it now.  In all honesty, if I hadn't been reading most of it at work (while really wanting to go home) I probably would have liked it from the beginning.  Although I still feel the beginning was a little boring, the ending was amazing!  I probably would have cried if I wasn't at work and people weren't coming in and interrupting me.  I definitely recommend it.  I feel like the ending was worth being bored during the beginning.  Is that weird?   I thought it was interesting how you're told what's going to happen before it happens, and yet it's still interesting to read what happens.  That probably made no sense to anyone who hasn't read the book (or maybe even people who have).

I think that's all I really have to say.  Hopefully, I can get to sleep tonight and don't sit up worrying about all of the ways Confirmation could go wrong.
