I think Remus and Tonks shocked me because they didn't get their "death scene" . Nor did we get the details like with Mad-Eye.The way we were presented with the fact that they are dead was so sudden and matter-of-fact.
Yeah, I think having it happen off screen and then talking about it so little makes the whole thing more jarring than it would if the scenes had been shown or even if it just been discussed in more detail.
